I'm thinking about scouting the Woodbury WLA for a possiable bow hunt this year, and for rabbit. I was wondering if anyone had hunted the area and how the game is?

I'll never hunt a public WLA during gun season, not with an army of hunters descending on the areas, too dangerous. But i love to bow hunt WLA's and Woodbury looks like a great place, all that open area and hundreds of acres to roam.

So what do you all think, is it worth it? I live in Knox county so i got an half an hour drive ...

I found another Public Hunting Area.

Pickaway Co. off Rt 138 approx. 13.4 miles south of Rt 22. at the corner of Rt 138 and Thompson Rd.

It looks to be a small trek but it could be a good place for dove hunters and possible rabbit hunters as corn fields are on 3 sides of the area and there is nice growth on the perimeters.

Click the Picture below (to make it BIGGER) to see the layout of the area everything inside the green lines are legal for hunting:

I am not sure of all the details, but I plan on checking them out asap.

Meanwhile if anyone has any info on this area, please let me know so I can update info on this area.

Also I did see that this area is only open to hunting after Oct 15th,and I would say it is open until the end of the hunting season (which is over now).

That's right everyone,...Mackey Ford on rt 762 is looking to be a hot place for deer so far.

I counted 9 deer so far crossing the fields and 2 were small bucks.

About 5 miles south on Rt 23 I saw a nice buck, big bodied.he was standing in a soy bean field with 2 Doe's.ODD,..but true. This was about 8:55 pm tonight.

Also saw those Turkeys again until fireworks someone was setting off scared them off.

The river (Scioto River) is down again and I am seeing deer drinking from the banks.

ODNR needs to get us some Urban units to hunt.

Otherwise they need to just rename the units they have,..to "You can't hunt here areas".

I would think that urban units would be like Metro parks that aren't in city limits.OH BUT WAIT,..all those high deer populated Urban parks are in city limits.

High Banks Park off Cleveland Ave. would be one of those parks i am talking or referring too.

At one time this park was over ran by deer,..But I have visited this park recently ...

Hey All,..

Not sure if most of you know this, but most Metro Parks ponds are FREE to fish,... :\A: that means NO LIECENSE is required to fish there.

Check with your local Metro Park to make sure that it is free , or that you dont need a fishing liecense.

It makes good sense to purchase a Ohio State Fishing Liecense though,..that money helps makes other programs available and helps in restocking fish and other stuff.Plus you never know when you may want to go to the river or a nice ...
