I'm thinking about scouting the Woodbury WLA for a possiable bow hunt this year, and for rabbit. I was wondering if anyone had hunted the area and how the game is?

I'll never hunt a public WLA during gun season, not with an army of hunters descending on the areas, too dangerous. But i love to bow hunt WLA's and Woodbury looks like a great place, all that open area and hundreds of acres to roam.

So what do you all think, is it worth it? I live in Knox county so i got an half an hour drive to get there so i thought i'd ask here before i went.

Here's a link to a map of the area : http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Portals/9/Images/hunting/Wildlife%20Area%20Maps/pub043.gif

As far as info on the area here's the link for that : http://www.dnr.state.oh.us/Home/wild_resourcessubhomepage/WildlifeAreaMaps/SoutheastOhioWildlifeAreaMaps/WoodburyWildlifeArea/tabid/19897/Default.aspx

I have not hunted there, as of yet. But it could be in the plans. But I have however hunted the AEP lands just south of Woodbury. You could try that as well as Dillion State Park which has been said to be a decent place for deer hunting and squirrels.

I can probly get a satelite image of the area , it may take me a day or so to scale it out.

Best bet on any land you paln to hunt wether you hunt year after year or for the first time is scout it. Animals tend to be like humans, they get tired of being in one place and when weather moves in and is bad animals will seek safer, friendlier places to reside, and with the season change animals will move from one area to another.
Good Luck and let's us all know how everything works out.

Be SAFE !
