So far this season looks to be a better year for squirrels. I have seen alot of accorns, and other nuts in the woods and crops are already being harvested, meaning that alot of animals will move back and forth from woods to fields, but will seek shelter in the woods since the crops are down.
I have seen some nice size squirrel's this year, but haven't harvested any as of yet, due to worbles still being present on the critters. After a good frost I will be out there, getting my bag limits.
As for Dove's,.. I haven't seen alot in the way of Public Wildlife Areas. That's basically due to most Public lands not having crops but instead weed covered lands. This is where ODNR should allow some sort of crop planting, or plant crops for the homeless, and donate the harvest to them or for them.
I am sure that some of you have some great areas for Dove's and squirrels, so please share your stories, and if you do have a place to hunt, and would like to invite members to hunt, please do so. You can contact most of the members by PM (private messaging), or email or just post your info and contact info on a post here in the forums.
My top Dove spots are:
1. Deer Creek State Park
2. Mackey Ford Wildlife Area
3. Alum Creek State Park
4. AEP Poston Public Lands - South of Nelsonville
5. Wolf Creek State Park - there are some small corn fields in certain areas, and also some open areas med to tall grass areas.
As Always,
Hunt Safe 'N' SAFE HUNTIN'
