| Hey Young Hunters,...well here it is another hunting season has arrived and I wanted to share some of what I feel is important not only for you as a hunter but as for the animals you are hunting or will be.
When hunting young hunters can tend to get in a hurry and not take the time to "Identify",the game they are hunting or the sex.So I gathered some pictures of some of the animals that are native to Ohio and that we all hunt for. I am doing this in hopes this will help you to be able to "Identify" what you are after.
Season that is in as of Tomorrow (Sept 1 Monday),is Squirrel & Morning Dove. Grey squirrel,Red Fox or (Fox Squirrel), are very fun to hunt.Since the season comes in when the weather is hot squirrels may have what we call "Worbbles". Worbbles are little worm like beingings that lay under the skin, and if you choose to hunt squirrels this early, and plan to eat them, you will have to cut the worbbles out. But anyways here's a couple pictures of the Eastern Grey and Red Fox (FOX) squirrels.EASTERN GREY SQUIRREL : They are grey and a little smaller then the Red Fox (Fox) squirrel. RED FOX (Fox) SQUIRREL : These guys like to chatter and bark and just carry on when they are alerted. They get their name because they have a REDISH looking furry tail that resembles a Red Fox,thus being deemed the "Red Fox or Fox Squirrel. MORNING DOVE or (TURTLE DOVE), When these birds take flight they resemble a jet,and usually they will fly over cut fileds like corn and soybean fields.Alot of times the purch on power lines and it is not recommended that you fire at one of these birds while they are purched on a power lines, actually it is against the law and could be fatal if you hit a power line.Best rule of thumb here is if they are flying go ahead and get your DOVE on,lol. I will update this section as new seasons open through the 2008/2009 Hunting Season.I will host another section as it will cover Ohio's biggest and most sought after "Big Game" the White-Tailed Deer, which comes in for the Archery Season on Sept. 27th.So come back and check it out. And as ALWAYS,HUNT SAFE 'N' SAFE HUNTIN'Wolvie
