Donald O'Dell

GLENS FALLS - Donald T. O'Dell Sr., 65, died Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008, at Ellis Hospital, Schenectady of complications from heart disease.
Born on Dec. 6, 1942, in Lake George, he was the son of the late Freeman and Flora (Labshere) O'Dell.
Mr. O'Dell was employed by Harder Silo of South Glens Falls as a silo builder for many years. He later worked for Woodbury Lumber Co. and Moore's Lumber Co. of Queensbury as a security guard, retiring in the '90s.
He was an avid reader, enjoyed playing computer games, loved hunting and fishing, and watching football on television.
Mr. O'Dell was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, uncle and friend. He left behind a family who loved him very much.
Besides his parents, he was predeceased by two brothers, Robert O'Dell and Stephen J. O'Dell and by one sister, Dorothy Cordi.
Survivors include his wife, Lilley May (DeMar) O'Dell whom he married on July 28, 1973; two sons, Ricky J. O'Dell and his wife, Vicky, and Donald T. O'Dell Jr. and his wife, LeeAnn; four daughters: Catherine Evans and her husband, Ray, Mary Campbell and her fiance', Michael R. Peters (Wolvie) Michael's son Corey M. Peters (Lil Wolvie), Cynthia Hurley and Donna Patchen; 15 grandchildren: Tommy O'Dell, Catherine Evans, Raymond Evans Jr., Mary Ann Van Guilder, Joey Van Guilder, Ashley Van Guilder, Collin Patchen, Lanie Patchen, Haiden Patchen, Aubree Patchen, Tiffany O'Dell, Corey Hargett, Justin Hargett, Jack Webb Jr. and Melissa Wheeler; one great-grandson, Tyler Michael Lee; one brother, Edward O'Dell and three sisters: Grace Crossman, Viola Goodman and Bertha Stone; and several nieces and nephews; and many friends. Among his closest friends were Hans Hansen, Francis Churney, Billy McGovern Sr., Billy McGovern Jr., Larry Scoville, Jigger Godfrey.
The family wishes to extend their appreciation and gratitude for the care given to Donald during his stays at Glens Falls Hospital and Ellis Hospital.
A graveside service will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday, at Evergreen Cemetery, Birch Avenue, Lake George.
Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 15, at Stafford Funeral Home Inc., 90 Montcalm St., Lake George.
